Just a sort of vague update on the Norton player issue last week

For once, I have had the honor of a parent in an issue, having the concern and interest in their child to not come on here to defend their child, but actually to express their disappointment in their childs actions. Its bad that this one definitely seems like a really good kid just making bad decisions, and not abusing drugs like some had tried to make it sound like.

I'll summarize what I know since the parent asked me to but I was waiting till further tests were done, and the parent true to their word, told me the results.

Simply put, the way that schools are now, they can't take risks. That is why medicine is supposed to be given to administrators, who provide it. Now from what the parent told me and they had no reason to tell me, just wanted things to not be rumor and half-truths, it involved a prescription of ibiprofen (I can't spell but we know what I meant). A bit stronger, but still, not any hard drugs. The kid gave a pill to 2 kids (I believe thats what she said, it may have been 1 pill and 2 split it, but thats just details, not the issue) and those kids snorted it. From what I was told, the kid who provided told the truth about things, and definitely got punished but appropriately, not charged with anything. They definitely got embarassed, had to talk to the coaches, the team, explain things to their family, etc. It was a tough lesson and tough love, but make no mistake, it was love.

The parent was very disappointed in the poor decision and wanted to answer questions to everybody and themselves I believe and had their son drug tested. That is what they were going to tell me, good or bad, and I'm very happy to report that the test came back clean and the kid will be back with the team.

Lesson learned, even good kids make mistakes, and good parents don't always just want to cover their kids, sometimes love means you have to be tough and try to teach your kid there is consequences for mistakes.

There is probably more to this, but I didn't really want to further address this till after the results. I don't know how many people on here really grasp how difficult that was for a parent, to approach me, someone they don't know but want to make sure that rumors weren't running rampant. I think most people had a fair idea of the truth of the story pretty early, although as usual some want to think the worst, because its a whole lot better of a story. I'll try to make sure I addressed all relevant issues tomorrow, I just had managed to get on a few minutes and wanted to post this, as an expression of thanks to the parent for being honest, and for being in my opinion, a good parent. I think most of us as we get older, we realize that when our parents said that something hurt them more than it hurt us, we realize they were telling the truth. I have no doubt that this player suffered, but for a parent, who is very proud of their child, to suddenly have something like this happen, I believe it did. Thankfully this parent was rewarded. I wish the player nothing but the best (well except against us *lol*) and seriously am glad that the parent did what they did, and wanted to try and find out if there was more of an issue or not.
If we had more parents like that, we would probably have a lot better world.

    Thanks guys and girls.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

if they knew it was ibuprofen why would they snort it? its advil

Rx strength is usually 500mg.....i think the OTC stuff is 150 so its essentially 3 advil
